The National Equipment Engineering team is responsible for wireless equipment strategy, planning and detailed engineering by developing engineering workflows, standardizations and specifications. We are heavily involved in analytical analysis and automation so we can work at scale to support the modernization of our Radio Access Network (RAN). As member of National Equipment Engineering team, you’ll apply your technical leadership and innovative thinking to deliver the best of RAN equipment planning and engineering solutions for our award winning network.
You’ll collaborate closely with Technology Strategy team members, stakeholders and vendors to drive the build/upgrade of the LTE/5G network and adaption of an automation first approach to our critical workflows and processes.
Here’s how
- Developing, planning and engineering standards and scalable wireless equipment strategies to support growth of our wireless LTE/5G network
- Working closely with the Planning and DevOps teams to evaluate new products and establish a multi-vendor equipment landscape (Samsung/Nokia)
- Contributing in strategic planning by developing, optimizing and maintaining unit cost for deployment scenarios and capital forecasting
- Using data analytics and insights to uncover meaningful information and automation opportunities to transform processes and workflows
- Producing equipment engineering work orders (RAN, power, floor plans, rack layouts, connection diagrams, etc) and site configurations (CIQ)
- Help drive the evolution of our teams towards a DevOps and Agile culture
Qualifications
You’re the missing piece of the puzzle
- In-depth 3GPP knowledge of 3G (UMTS/HSPA), 4G(LTE) and 5G(NR) RAN technology
- Sound understanding of RAN architecture including cell site hardware (macro and small cell), fiber infrastructure, power systems and transmission medium
- Expertise in project management and procurement best practices
- Ability to do statistical analysis and create web based applications/dashboards that can be shared with executives and other stakeholders (Tableau, Splunk, Alteryx etc)
- Experience with programming languages, such as C# or Python, familiarity with common data analysis libraries and APIs
- Good understanding of database applications (SQL, Oracle, NoSQL)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a can-do attitude
- The successful candidate will bring strong industry knowledge coupled with business acumen and an aptitude for using niche custom engineering tools
- Proven ability to drive projects autonomously, produce quality project results and create technical documents
- Ability to work with ambiguity and limited resources under tight deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to coach and influence team members, management, other business units
- 5+ years of experience in RAN/RF Engineering related roles however lesser experience with strong growth potential will also be considered
- 3+ years of experience in data analytics and tool development
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related disciplines
Great to have
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related disciplines
- Experience working with Agile/Scrum/Kanban
- Experience with Cloud platforms preferably Google cloud platform (GCP)
