Reel One Entertainment is looking for a Director, Corporate Finance to be based out of its Toronto office.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Finance, the Director, Corporate Finance will be responsible for the Corporate Accounting functions. More specifically, the Director will have the following responsibilities:
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct the finance & accounting functions of the organization and provide direction and management for the finance and accounting teams;
- Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities; set objectives; establish priorities; and monitor and evaluate results;
- Establish ERP needs via business process analysis and consultation;
- Apply financial control policies and procedures to ensure validity of the organization’s financial statements;
- Ensure the department capabilities are aligned with the company’s growth vision
Financial Forecasting and Planning
- Collectively with the VP Corporate Finance, manage the processes for financial forecasting and business planning;
- Collectively with the VP Corporate Finance, manage financial and tax strategies;
- Assist senior management in financial planning and results achievement. Work with other team members to understand revenue and cost drivers and define appropriate actions to achieve the company goals and growth objectives;
Actuals, Accounting and Internal Control
- Manage the preparation of financial reporting under ASPE and IFRS. Stay abreast of accounting changes and provide consistent compliance with generally accepted accounting principles as well as Company policies and procedures
- Streamline processes to achieve objectives within tight deadlines
- Provide any ad-hoc reporting or analyses, to support shareholder’s request;
- Ensure timeliness, accuracy and usefulness of financial and management reporting and timely issuance of financial statements in accordance to corporate calendar;
- Maintain and improve internal Controls to ensure that they are in compliance with ASPE, IFRS, Newen group standard’s and applicable local regulatory laws and rules;
- Manage the issuance of financial information;
- Manage the company’s relationship with its outside accounting firms, including the coordination of the annual audit,
- Ensure that record keeping and financial and tax information meets all legal and regulatory requirements;
Cash
- Keep up daily relationship with financial institutions and ensure the company has long-term financial plan providing access to credit that is aligned with corporate strategy and that the cost of borrowing reflects the business risks;
- Provide regular cash flow feedback and reporting;
- Collectively with the VP Corporate Finance: optimize cashflow, handle cashpooling and review hedging strategy;
- Provide reporting requirements to the bank per the loan facility agreement.
Team Development/Leadership
- Direct, and organize the work of the Corporate accounting team;
- Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals, and recommend salary adjustments;
- Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities; set objectives; establish priorities; and monitor and evaluate results.
- Promote teamwork and process efficiency.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- A university graduate with a CPA designation;
- A minimum of 10 years of experience and 5 years in management roles;
- Accounting and finance experience, public company experience would be an asset;
- Experience for a major company specialized in entertainment / media / and ideally content production, a strong asset;
- Strong written and oral communication skills are essential;
- Proven track record in adding value to companies;
- Bilingualism (English and French), an asset
