Mackenzie Financial Corporation is currently accepting applications for the 13-month contract position of Director, Finance. Reporting to the Assistant Vice-President, Finance, the successful candidate will be responsible for using insights and foresight, rooted in deep analysis of internal and external drivers, to help develop & execute strategy, improve business decision-making, and drive profitable growth to the IGM group of companies (Investors Group, Mackenzie, and Investment Planning Counsel).

Main responsibilities are in the areas of financial analysis, forecasting, and annual plan development. The successful candidates’ specific responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the development, improvement and maintenance of the financial planning tools, assumptions and databases supporting the corporate business plan and forecasting models.
  • Lead, coordinate and support the development of company forecasts, and corporate and business unit plans
  • Identify, and resolve sophisticated technical, operational, and organizational problems by applying analytical thought and judgement
  • Lead the development of operational and income forecasts
  • Manage the development, interpretation, and communication of consolidated management reporting and analysis on a timely basis
  • Lead the development of presentations interpreting and communicating financial impact of key strategies/initiatives targeting executive audience
  • Strategic business case development leveraging internal and industry analysis and research to support business decisions and strategic initiatives
  • Develop financial models to support business decisions on various ad-hoc projects as required
  • Liaise with key senior management to provide relevant financial business support and insights, including pro-forma financials and product profitability
  • Project management and cross-functional coordination of activities
  • Provide analytical/financial modeling leadership on various ad-hoc projects as required
  • Work closely with Finance and operations personnel at all IGM companies

The following qualifications will assist the successful candidate in carrying out these responsibilities:

  • Business degree, and/or CPA, MBA or CFA designation
  • 10+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience within the financial services industry
  • Advanced financial and business modelling skills, including expert proficiency in Excel, VBA, Power Query and PowerPoint
  • Strong systems knowledge (ERP/SAP, consolidation and budgeting and data mining)
  • Solid understanding of accounting, statistics and corporate finance and proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks within tight deadlines on an ongoing basis
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
