Director of Finance & Administration / Chief Financial Officer
The District of Lake Country is seeking a strategic and progressive individual for the position of Director of Finance & Administration / Chief Financial Officer (CFO). As a member of the Senior Leadership team, and as the CFO, this position plays a critical role ensuring the development and implementation of departmental functional strategies. In addition to Financial responsibilities, the CFO will also oversee human resources, safety, communications and information management (IT).
The CFO is responsible for the statutory duties of the Financial Officer under the Community Charter. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the CFO is responsible for overall financial administration and will provide leadership in areas of budget, financial planning, financial reporting, financial policies, debt and investment management. As the CFO you must ensure the District is fiscally responsible and seen as a good steward of public funds.
A successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership abilities and value collaboration. You will have demonstrated the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships. You can thrive in a fast-paced environment and are flexible and willing to change priorities to meet changing deadlines. You are comfortable dealing with a wide variety of stakeholders both internal and external as well as Boards and or Councils. You have experience managing diverse teams in a unionized environment and well respected for your professionalism, commitment, and passion.
The ideal candidate will have completed an accounting designation (CPA) and have a degree in a related discipline. A minimum of seven years senior level related experience in public sector finance is required, with preference given to relevant experience in municipal or regional district setting. The ideal candidate will have at least five years supervisory or leadership experience. This is a high profile position requiring excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
