Job description: Evok Innovations is a cleantech venture capital fund headquartered in Vancouver with offices in San Francisco, Toronto, Calgary and Seattle. About you:

We are looking for a Director of Finance to join our exceptional team. The successful candidate will be passionate about this/our mission too. Our current structure includes over 10 corporate entities, so our Financial environment is a complex one. We are looking for an experienced Financial Director who can execute at both day-to-day and strategic level. Ideally, this individual has had previous experience overseeing the financial reporting and running of multiple complex corporate entities and family business environments. Previous experience in Venture Capital / Private Equity or with a family office would be considered a big plus.

The responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of financial reporting across multiple entities, including payables, receivables, payroll & tax.
  • Review and manage the investment portfolio and provide detailed analysis of capital deployment strategies.
  • Own the corporate financial model that includes all projected returns across all portfolio companies.
  • Consolidation of monthly and annual books, and management reporting within defined timelines.
  • Provide leadership in financial planning and management, ensuring the development of quarterly, annual, and long-term financial plans, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Provide Cash management, including capital calls and distributions
  • Provide executive management with advice on the financial implications and risk of business activities and make recommendations for mitigation.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies, including tax, banking, etc.
  • Drive annual financial budgeting process and cash forecasting to ensure they are in sync with business objectives.
  • Tax planning and corporate structuring for the international business structure and operations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, suppliers, bank, lenders, and vendors.
  • Facilitate and lead annual financial statement audits, serving as liaison between external auditors and the Company.
  • Recent experience with adhering to accounting framework principles including IFRS, ASPE or US/CA GAAP, matching guidance to business activity.

Requirements

  • MBA or similar degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA/CA designation required.
  • Based in Vancouver, Calgary or Toronto with a preference for Vancouver.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience as head of finance (Director of Finance) in a growing organization with multi-business segments. Complex corporate structure experience is a plus.
  • Experience in working with corporate financial modelling and investment analysis.
  • Must thrive in fast-paced, rapid change, hypergrowth environments.
  • Superior interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a variety of both internal and external teams.
  • Experience with formal reporting requirements to investors, boards of directors and other stakeholders would be considered a plus.
