Manulife is looking for a Director to join its Global Technology Planning & Execution team.

The position will be in the Toronto office.

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Global Technology Strategy & Planning Execution, part of the Enterprise Technology Services team lead by our Global CTO, you’ll join a nimble team of dedicated, engaged and high performing professionals focused on working together, challenging the status quo and owning our future. You will support the delivery of Global Technology’s strategy objectives and will be a key leader within the Global Technology Strategy, Planning & Execution team.

You will provide expertise to the leadership team in data driven decision making through accurate and timely Financial and business planning, reporting and analyses and will be responsible for developing the financial business case for the corporate projects, and various analytics to support the strategy of the group.

On a day to day basis you will be involved in the following:

Partner with teams to help understand their respective spend, recommendation to close budget gaps and address action items in their portfolio through improved, simplified and timely reporting. Keeping them accountable to the financials and working with them to ensure their success

Provide monthly analysis of Financial results, assessment of risks and opportunities of technology individual teams and on a consolidated level

Playing a key role in Budgeting and Forecasting processes

Develop a consistent method to assess the department run rate, projected spend, cost optimization and efficiency opportunities in partnership with Finance and strategy directors

Established cost control through standard methodologies in partnership with Expense management team

Effective partnership with PMO and product owners to quantify savings from capabilities and track benefits through Financial models

Ensure effective partnership with procurement and vendor management teams to map vendor expenditures to associated cost centers and optimizing vendor related cost savings

Partner with IT Asset management, Architecture and Finance teams to develop tools total cost of ownership.

Introduced data-driven approach for analyzing teams’ financial performance and advise tactical strategies to improve financial predictability and minimize variance

Partner with HR team for headcount planning that ties to org charts, financial plans and strategy of the team

Contribute to a culture that encourages transparency, inclusivity and innovation.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor degree in business, Accounting or finance with CPA designation

Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to present information in an organized, logical and effective manner to a wide variety of audiences including executives.

5+ years of experience in Financial and Business Planning roles

Experience with Planview, Jira/confluence or other program management, reporting and analytical tools is an asset

Proven experience managing Budgets, forecasts and planning process improvement in large organizations and technology operating teams

Strong critical thinking and analytical skills

Ability to champion change, inspire a shared vision and promote key values driving urgency and execution

Strong leadership skills with an interest to coach and develop talent at multiple levels through both direct and indirect influence

Experience providing Business and Financial counsel to executives and senior management, influence key partners and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams leadage complex bodies of work.

Flexible to work off-regular hours to meet delivery timelines in certain situations

High level of proficiency with MS PowerPoint, advance level Excel and working level of PowerBI

Proven ability to think strategically, be creative, quick learner with problem-solving skills

Exceptional skills at building relationships and collaborating with others
