Role: Camp Manager

Tundra North is creating a self-sustaining eco-village in the Western Arctic to become a hub for local food production and manufacturing. Tundra North will be producing its own lumber to be used in building cabins and other camp infrastructure including a greenhouse, traditional Sod House and Ice House. Our food will be grown in greenhouses and foraged/harvested from the land, it will then be used at the camp and sold in local markets. We are looking for a Camp Manager to manage the implementation of these programs and supervise staff. The Camp Manager would join the Tundra North team living on-site just outside of Inuvik, NWT.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Saw mill operations
  • Wood Harvesting
  • Building and maintaining cabins and other village infrastructure
  • Camp and machine Maintenance
  • Managing farming operations and soil production
  • Managing fisheries, productions of fish products for sale and soil manufacturing
  • Keeping work crew on task and supervising
  • Twice weekly safety and planning meetings with the village management team.
  • Sticking to deadline and production quotas
  • Creating policies and procedures of the Village

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Farming and/or Saw Mill work experience
  • Manager/Supervisor Experience
  • Carpentry experience
