Status: Permanent Full-Time

Reporting to the Manager of Outpatient Services, the EDUCATION COORDINATOR ll is responsible for ensuring that all Project ECHO at UHN’s educational programs are of excellent quality by functioning as a resource in planning, implementing and evaluating a range of educational programs and initiatives that support healthcare provider education, and also contributing to evaluation, research and scholarly activities. The principal responsibilities include: facilitating the development of curricula, conferences, seminars and other educational activities that promote inter-professional learning and collaboration; monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of educational programs to ensure program goals are achieved; collaborating with ECHO staff, stakeholders, and research personnel; monitoring education budget and expenses; consulting with the ECHO program teams to determine interests, needs and program priorities; ensuring the efficient and effective operations of current and upcoming ECHO courses, conferences and learning modules. This role requires excellent planning skills and 3 years’ experience in coordinating educational programs. Experience working in health care is an asset.

About ECHO

ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) is a collaborative model of education that empowers healthcare providers (HCPs) in underserved areas of Ontario to provide better care to more people, within their communities.

ECHO does not “provide” direct care to patients but it increases access to specialty level treatment provided by HCPs by supporting them with patient case discussions and didactics during ECHO learning sessions. ECHO connects groups of HCPs with specialist teams during regular virtual interactive sessions. Learning at ECHO is enhanced through in-person workshops, online learning modules, and other educational initiatives. As the ECHO model expands, it is helping to address some of the health care system’s most intractable problems, including inadequate or disparities in access to care, rising costs, systemic inefficiencies, and unequal or slow diffusion of best

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Ensures ECHO sessions and materials are CME accredited; prepares and submits all materials for program accreditation.
  • Performs needs assessments and monitors needs of program participants.
  • Works with multiple program teams to develop curricula, identify speakers, and other planning as needed for ECHO sessions, conferences, in-person workshops, and other initiatives, based on defined educational objectives.
  • Coordinates annual ECHO Ontario conference, ECHO in person workshops, and other new learning or training initiatives.
  • Liaises with and schedules speakers, assists with development and collection of their educational materials; ensures all speaker presentations are complete with appropriate content, format, and legibility.
  • Collects, reviews and presents participant feedback for ongoing quality improvement.
  • Attends ECHO educational sessions periodically.
  • Tracks participant Continuing Medical/Professional education hours and distributes CME/CPD certificates.
  • Participates in training sessions for ECHO Program staff (from ECHO programs within and outside of UHN),
  • Takes initiative to identify and collaborate on new learning initiatives that support ongoing improvements in ECHO programs.
  • Planning and evaluation of process – Collaborates with staff, including outcomes coordinator, to collect surveys and conduct focus groups as required. Analyzes evaluation and assessment materials.
  • Prepares and presents reports and feedback summaries for the program teams. Scholarly Activities: Collaborates with the research coordinator, assists with preparing research results and poster presentations for scholarly publications, conferences and presentations.
  • Contributes to ECHO website as needed.
  • Contributes to reports, articles, and newsletters.
  • Collaborates with multiple program teams, operational staff, and stakeholder groups.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in health care or education.
  • Master’s degree in education preferred.
  • Three years minimum relevant experience, working within health care and education, in the development and coordination of educational programs and projects.
  • Strong computer skills including: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word;
  • Extensive knowledge of learning platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to work proactively and independently while anticipating and prioritizing work.
  • Demonstrated leadership and motivational skills.
  • Excellent planning, writing, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Superb organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality. Flexible, adaptable, perceptive and able to work independently and as part of a dynamic team
  • Able to implement change initiatives in support of educational and program goals and objectives
