Responsibilities
The Nova Scotia Health (NSH) Trauma Program ensures organized and coordinated care is provided to all injured patients. As a member of the (NSH) Trauma Program, the Trauma Education Coordinator is responsible for educational program planning, including scheduling, organization, implementation and evaluation of trauma education in the province, quality assurance/improvement, and participating in planning, development, review, revision and implementation of the trauma standards and policies. Trauma education includes ongoing trauma webinar presentations, Rural Trauma Team Development Course (RTTDC) delivery, Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) courses and ad hoc educational events. The coordinator must continuously develop, track and improve upon the delivery of these programs to meet the needs of the trauma care providers across the province. The coordinator must also maintain leadership roles by being involved in national and local groups for quality improvement, injury prevention and evidence-based educational practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, or Critical Care Paramedic
Provincial licensure with the applicable licensing body
Three (3) years of previous related experience required
Computer applications – Excel, Word
Knowledge, skill and experience in database management, research, data quality, software installation,
Adult education teaching skills
Up to date with current best practice guidelines related to trauma care
Knowledge of quality assurance/improvement methods
Knowledge of trauma education, including ATLS and RTTDC
Knowledge of best practice guidelines related to trauma care
Knowledge of injury, trauma care and trauma systems
Teaching and training
Hours of Work
- Long assignment, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
- Beginning July 5, 2021 until July 5, 2022
These are anticipated dates and subject to change
Salary Information
$31.8524 – $40.2222 hourly
