Job description: The Future Ready Initiative is an institutional response to changes facing the Jamat in Canada, and those with whom the Jamat lives. The Program responds to four inter-related needs within the Jamat: 1. Family Mentorship; 2. Future of Work; 3. Mental health; and 4. Youth mentorship and leadership development.

About the Role
Under the guidance of the FMP Lead and Learning and Development lead, the Education Specialist collaborates with the team to assess, plan, develop, implement, facilitate, evaluate and revise educational programming for all levels of professional navigators, family mentors and others as indicated or requested.

The incumbent acts as a key resource in the orientation and continuing education of volunteers in the Family Mentorship Program. The Education Specialist implements a comprehensive education program for his/her assigned teams. Educational programs typically include, but are not limited to orientation, continuing education and in-services. Other services may include, but are not limited to process, performance and service-delivery consultation and contributions to the organization through ad-hoc or established committees and workgroups.

The incumbent performs the following job responsibilities:
Education * Collects and assesses data and information related to education needs and other pertinent situations, including identification of trends, issues and supporting data to determine a comprehensive education program for assigned groups including classroom, clinical experiences and learning technologies.

  • Assesses plans, develops, implements and evaluates comprehensive education programs to meet the orientation and ongoing competency needs and professional development needs of the volunteers, which supports the Future Ready Initiative model of professional nursing practice.
  • Provides consultation to enhance continuing education, professional development opportunities and mentorship opportunities.
  • Develops and delivers/coordinates other educational programs as directed (e.g., Rounds, in-services, continuing education, volunteer role-specific and specialty curricula) to support competence and professional growth of FRI Volunteers.
  • Develops curricula that is reflective of evidence-based practice and uses the appropriate methods of teaching to accommodate learning styles and the learning environment.
  • Plans, develops, and evaluates a preceptor program to enhance the orientation process and the retention of volunteers. Provides leadership to preceptors and serves as a role model through educational programs and ongoing coaching and mentoring.

About You
Education & Experience: * Education: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or Nursing or Education or related specialty.

  • Preferred Work Experience Minimum Three (3) years of relevant practical experience in field of practice, in particular case management.
  • Preferred Three (3) years of experience with orientation and education of health care staff

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: * Experience in education program design and evaluation.

  • Knowledge and experience in adult education principles.
  • Evidence of excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
