JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Manager, Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC), the Educational Technology Analysis supports faculty/instructors in the current technology-enhanced learning environment.

NATURE OF WORK:

This position analyzes user requirements and conducts use-case testing. They assists with onboarding and optimizing technologies to gain greater impact with student success and efficiency in online courses as well as in day-to-day operations. This role also assists with functional testing on technology upgrades, as well as on learning tool integrations (based on the LTI standard) and other integrations. This position works other TLC Staff, as well as the Business Solutions Analyst (Ontario Tech IT).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with stakeholders to support needs analysis and testing of new technologies and integrations
  • Provides advanced consultations with instructors to analyze instructional technology requirements
  • Works with instructional designers and technologists to identify, specify, develop, and guide assembly of instructional technology solutions for undergraduate and graduate courses
  • Support the testing and integration of educational technologies within Canvas, Ontario Tech’s Learning Management System
  • Promote the effective use of existing technologies to improve day-to-day work processes and student support
  • Assist with functional testing in a wide range of eLearning environments
  • Follow and contribute to improved testing plans for eLearning environments
  • Provide expert technical support and training to Ontario Tech faculty/instructors, working closely with TLC team members and other staff to deliver solutions
  • Coordinate and assist with testing of system upgrades and new integrations as required
  • Collaborate with Ontario Tech IT Services to ensure channels of communication remain open and technology initiatives are coordinated and planned
  • Ensure that specialized projects are organized, prioritized, and accurately completed
  • Track and communicate with stakeholders the status of technology-related projects
  • Other duties, responsibilities or activities may be assigned at any time with or without notice
  • Work with new and existing educational technology vendors to integrate technology into the university environment.
  • Research new and emerging educational technologies and provide requirement gathering and recommendations for decision making.
  • Review and access educational technologies for compliancy with AODA/FIPPA requirements.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in related area; and/or equivalent experience/training (minimum), Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Verification of Academic credentials may be required

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of three years of relevant technology experience, either in higher education environments (preferred) or in education-related companies
  • Experience with a wide range of technology including learning management systems, presentation software, survey software, and web-based collaboration tools
  • Experience with functional testing of systems
  • Knowledge of widely used and emerging technology applications, trends, software, and cloud services, especially within an academic environment
  • Experience justifying technology decisions to non-technical audience
  • Experience with application/web development and/or data querying
