Responsibilities:
- Provides technical support for all audio and visual systems, and presentation and collaborative technologies.
- Plans, installs, configures and programs, support & preventative maintenance, and repair to the component level on a broad range of equipment.
- Rewrites and updates system software and instructs faculty and staff on the safe and efficient use and operation of the above systems and equipment.
- Designs and installs complete audio, video and room control systems, designing and fabricating custom pieces as required.
- Meets with faculty and staff to determine and analyse requirements and trains users.
- Installs systems, configuring and programming devices as required.
- Designs and installs room control systems to integrate the various audio and video systems, as well as powered projection screens, lighting systems and window coverings where applicable.
- Determines the functional requirements in a particular room, develops the code required functionality
- Configures PCs as part of the system, to ensure they integrate correctly with other systems and confirms network connectivity is provided where required.
- Evaluates new and emerging audio, visual and room control systems and technologies and makes recommendations for equipment and system purchases.
- Responsible for planning and scheduling work based on requests, priorities, departmental assignments, and availability of facilities and equipment and may coordinate project activities of project team members.
- Schedules, arranges and conducts meetings with clients, colleagues, vendors and consultants and provides estimates.
- Responsible for procuring and maintaining spare parts inventory and ensures that parts inventories are kept up to acceptable levels.
- Creates and maintains technical documentation and files as required.
- Maintains current level of technical knowledge in the areas of audio visual hardware and software, and electronics.

Qualifications:
- Completion of a 2 year Diploma program in Electronic Technology, Audio Visual Technology, or related program from an accredited post-secondary institution of technology
- Four years directly related experience
- Trained, skilled and experienced in audio and video technology, PC and networking technologies, and custom programming & coding as it relates to the A/V industry.
- Thorough knowledge and experience in audio visual equipment installation, repair and support, including the ability to perform component level troubleshooting and repair
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of electronic theory and application
- Good working knowledge of AV control systems programming preferably with Extron and Crestron control systems
- Good working knowledge of PC hardware, software, operating systems and IP based networking systems
- Knowledge and ability to properly and safely use powered and non-powered hand tools
- Must have the ability to provide team leadership as well as a high degree of client interaction and technical versatility with broad industry knowledge.
- Ability to analyze and assess user needs, evaluate effectiveness of solutions, and resolve problems
- Ability to exercise sound independent judgment, initiative and resourcefulness.
- Ability to plan, organize, coordinate schedules and deadlines for own work and others while maintaining effective working relationships with others in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to adapt and adjust to a rapidly changing environment and think logically.
- Ability to understand complex technology principles
- Superior customer service skills and abilities are required.
- Ability to apply a systemic, disciplined and analytical approach to planning, designing, testing, troubleshooting, and problem solving
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing and effectively communicate technical problems, processes, and solutions
- Ability to create clear and concise technical documents such as user information documents, or technical processes and protocols.
An equivalent combination of education, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.
