Job title: Employment and Housing Outreach Coordinator

Job description: The Kermode Friendship Society offers culturally sensitive, quality programs and services to the Aboriginal community members and community-at-large in the Terrace area. This position reports directly to the Executive Director. Providing assessments, educational and career planning and working with clients to implement and carry out those plans are the primary responsibility of this position. The Employment Coordinator must possess a diploma in a field appropriate to the position and three years of experience in the Social Services field.

Requirements and Responsibilities

  • candidate will have successfully completed a Diploma in a Social Services or related field, with three years experience in supervisory capacity.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving abstract.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to work with sensitivity towards the divers perspectives of individual clients and community service providers, while meeting the objectives and targets of the department.
  • Ability to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment; Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands: and ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
  • Clean criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
  • Ability to maintain positive professional boundaries without imposing personal judgments and expectations of clients.
  • Ability to work under pressure of timelines and reporting deadlines .
  • High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills; High level of integrity and work ethic.
  • Knowledge of relevant community resources and employment services supports.
  • Proven experience with case management services; Creative and passionate in working with clients to enhance labour market attachment.
  • Proven knowledge of Harm Reduction support services; proven knowledge of Trauma-informed practice: and proven knowledge of Motivational Interviewing.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate

Work Conditions

  • Flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • High levels of stress and pressure.
  • Occasional overtime.
  • Interaction with others under varying circumstances , including situations of a highly sensitive nature.
  • Able to lift ip to fourteen kilogram (30lbs)
