Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Chief Manufacturing Engineer, the Manufacturing Engineer:
  • Writes and revises documents for assembly, testing and packaging operations
  • Designs reliable and efficient assembly methods
  • Sets standard production times (process routes)
  • Calculates TAKT TIME and assesses cell and work centre capacity
  • Examines cell line balancing
  • Supports pre-pilot and pilot productions when new products are introduced
  • Develops, manages, and updates factory and production cell drawings
  • Provides technical support to production
  • Optimizes existing assembly methods in accordance with the principles of Lean Manufacturing
  • Completes assigned technical projects in accordance with established objectives
  • Meets project targets (KPIs), budgets and timelines, and provides expected progress reports and evaluations to their supervisor within set timeframes
  • Participates actively in the established Continuous Improvement process (DMS, Kaizen, A3 problem solving, etc.)

Other Tasks (Projects)

  • Establishing connections for collaborative work and information sharing
  • Mobilizing key stakeholders to ensure their participation in the project
  • Preparing all working papers
  • Preparing the schedule for all activities and ensuring follow-up.
  • Monitoring progress on an ongoing basis and preparing progress reports
  • Establishing and maintaining effective and ongoing communications with individuals and groups involved directly or indirectly in the project
  • Preparing estimates for proposals for all trade executives involved in the installation of equipment and related services
  • Analyzing the proposals and making the necessary recommendations
  • Preparing the necessary paperwork for the approval of expenditures for purchases and services
  • Ensuring that work is carried out in accordance with company policies and Health and Safety rules in effect
  • Undertaking all necessary tasks for smooth running of the project

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Industrial Engineering
  • Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec
  • Minimum of five years experience as Manufacturing Engineer or equivalent experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Strong interpersonal, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Office, Microsoft Project, MRP and Autocad tools
  • Fluency in spoken and written French and English
  • White Belt, Green Belt, Black Belt training will be considered an asset.
