What you’ll do

We’re hiring science and engineering talent in disciplines such as:

  • Advanced Reactor Technologies
  • Nuclear Reactor and Fuel Cycle Regulation
  • Environmental Protection and Assessment
  • Radiation Protection and Health Physics
  • Safety Assessment
  • Management Systems, Personnel Training, Personnel Certification and Human and Organizational Performance
  • Nuclear Security, Cybersecurity and Safeguards

Working with us is always an adventure. On any given day, you’ll work alongside some amazing people to:

  • Lead or support regulatory projects and programs, monitor progress against deliverables and report on progress
  • Conduct inspections and/or support our regulatory activities
  • Assess and synthesize regulatory information
  • Engage with the public and Indigenous Nations and communities
  • Prepare Commission Member Documents
  • Write reports and make recommendations
  • Contribute to improving the CNSC’s programs

Essential Qualifications:

Education: University degree in science and/or engineering or an equivalent combination of education, job knowledge and relevant job experience.

Language Requirements:Various language profiles

Experience:

As a REG5, you have experience:

  • Taking part in regulatory compliance, assessment and/or licensing activities, or working in support of such activities
  • Contributing to and/or leading multi-disciplinary and cross-functional projects and/or programs
  • Writing reports and/or regulatory documents
  • Participating in outreach activities and/or engagements with Indigenous people

As a REG6, you have experience:

  • Conducting or leading regulatory compliance, assessment and/or licensing activities
  • Leading multi-disciplinary and cross-functional projects and/or programs
  • Writing reports and/or regulatory documents
  • Participating in or leading outreach activities and/or engagements with Indigenous people

Knowledge of:

  • The Canadian nuclear safety regulatory framework, including the Nuclear Safety Control Act, Regulations and regulatory documents
  • The CNSC’s licensing and compliance process
  • The CNSC’s safety and control area framework

Ability to:

  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Assess technical information, synthesize, and communicate findings
  • Work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and with diverse stakeholders

Asset Qualification:

  • Knowledge of nuclear facilities including fuel fabrication facilities, nuclear power plants, small modular reactors, and nuclear research facilities
  • Knowledge of International Atomic Energy Association (IAEA) safety principles
  • Project Management Training
  • Certified Health Physicist (CHP)

Operational Needs:

All CNSC staff are subject to the Mobility Directive
Occasional travel required
Some overtime may be required
