Role
MistyWest is hiring a co-op student from Electrical, Firmware, Mechanical, or Engineering Physics disciplines for the winter 2023 term who has a strong research and development focus and is well versed in a range of engineering skills including mechanical design, electrical design, and software development. This role will have a strong focus on product development and will require fast and adaptable hands on learning.
You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of project managers, and engineers to complete both product development and research tasks in a variety of industries and market segments.
MistyWest develops products in many innovative and unproven applications, so you must be obsessed with learning new skills and technology as well as highly comfortable with ambiguity and the unknown. You are used to working with diverse product development teams and are a great communicator. You thrive in collaborative environments and look forward to working in our beautiful office in Mount Pleasant for 5 days a week
Requirements

- 3rd, 4th, or 5th-year undergrad in Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Preferred 0-1 year of previous coop work experience in Engineering Physics.
- Working knowledge of electrical design, firmware development, and methods of applied mathematics
- Ability to perform simulations and modeling
- Familiarity with the algorithms, and methods of data science
- Familiarity with rapid prototyping devices like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Machine learning and evaluation kits
- Linux driver development knowledge/experience is an asset
- Experience using PCB layout and schematic capture (e.g. Altium, Eagle, KiCAD, PADs, etc)
- Behavioral Competencies- Flexibility, Adaptability, Proactivity, Motivated
- Awesomeness
Nice-To-Have Qualifications (in order of preference)
- Multidisciplinary engineering experience is an asset for this position
- Creative thinker with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability of quick prototyping, and working in challenging design constraints
- Loves to tinker on their own projects at home. A geek like us!
Salary
This is a paid Co-Op position.
