Your Future Role:

  • Manages engineering operations within Advance Millwrights Inc.
  • Review designs completed by the Engineering team for quality and accuracy
  • Be accountable for advocating and enforcing design standards
  • Review projects with project managers prior releasing into design team
  • Identify and propose continuous improvements for departmental and company standards
  • Prioritize and schedule department workload to meet deadlines
  • Assist with and develop workflows
  • Work with the fabrication and millwrighting teams to address any issues, concerns and process improvements
  • Adhere to the established Engineering workflow including but not limited to participation in project kick offs, design reviews, approval drawings generation, detailing, BOM generation, revisions and documentation
  • Liaise and assist with managing projects through the manufacturing process
  • Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) as requested
  • Attend customer meetings & site visits as requested
  • Assist in the interview and hiring process of all department positions
  • Responsible for planning and executing the development of the Engineering team
  • Coach and mentor to the Engineering team to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget to company quality standards
  • Work with the Human Resources department on facilitating and delivering annual performance reviews
  • Maintain a confidential, friendly and approachable demeanour, ensuring employees feel comfortable discussing any and all aspects related to their employment.
  • Track project budgets and timelines and provide action plans to address any issues
  • Design and detailing as required
  • Other duties as required

Requirements

  • You have a get it done attitude and are skilled at removing barriers
  • You operate with a team spirit, not with ego; you want everyone, including yourself, to do their best work; you see your success as dependent on the success of the team
  • You have the ability to think beyond the needs of the customer to point out errors and potential issues
  • You are able to adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions, cope effectively with complexity and change, quickly understand and absorb new information and respond appropriately
  • You are a straight shooter who gets to the point and can clearly communicate in both oral and written form.
  • Understanding of Material handling equipment and processes
  • Industrial Agricultural background
  • Structure design background
  • You are proficient in SolidWorks 3D modeling and AutoCAD 2D
  • You have a minimum of 5 years’ experience of demonstrated team leadership
  • Working knowledge of automated equipment and electrical/pneumatic drawings an asset
  • High level organizational and project management skills
  • Applied knowledge of Continuous Improvement techniques
  • You have a Mechanical Engineering Degree/Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with sanitary design principles is an asset
  • You have a comprehensive understanding of metal fabricating equipment and processes
  • P. Eng considered an asset
