Job Summary

Our Design Centers are fast-paced design centers servicing global customer in the automotive sector. We offer full product development including overall system architecture development, hardware and mechanical design and software development. We have ISO certified environmental and EMC labs as well as full factory test system design and build capabilities.

Acting as trusted design advisors to our customers, we work on multiple medium to large scale projects and collaborate on a global scale with other Flex locations to ensure we provide the best customer experience possible. The Engineering Program Manager will be based in Markham, Ontario or Kanata, Ontario.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Responsible for coordination and on-time delivery of all engineering project deliverables into customer product development projects.
  • Responsible for detailed level engineering schedules, resource requirements and status reporting for customer ODM projects into engineering management and GPM functions.
  • Develop and maintain project checklists and guidelines to drive team execution, resource planning and continuous improvement processes across the engineering organization.
  • Act as the main customer interface for engineering project schedule and issue management.
  • Provide the ‘glue’ that links sub teams, makes communications flow, and drives the definition of all inputs and outputs required to successfully execute CE development projects.
  • Coordinate engineering prototype builds, materials readiness, test readiness and on site engineering support.
  • Coordination of development activities across multiple sites (North America, Asia).

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

  • 10+ years of program manager experience
  • BS/MS in Electrical, Mechanical, Software or other Engineering discipline
  • Previous design contributor experience in one or more of the technical areas related to automotive/transportation systems development
  • Experience as a Project Manager in full product development lifecycle projects from design inception to mass production for high-complexity products.
  • Fully capable with Project Management tools and techniques for both timeline and resource management.
  • Experience working with vendor partners in various levels technical and business relationship engagement.
  • Fluent written and oral English language

Here are a few of our preferred experiences:

  • ASPICE experience or training
  • Experience with development of autonomous systems such as ADAS, Sensor, and Compute Modules, etc.
  • PMP certification.
  • Knowledge of product test and design validation processes, defect management during development and Reliability and Regulatory test processes.
  • Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) tools, build up and process.
  • Understanding of electronics manufacturing (PCB, SMT) and mechanical manufacturing (plastics, metals) processes, critical vendor inputs/outputs, and New Product Introduction (NPI) processes.
