DETAILS:
As a member of the Engineering team you will work on our programs such as CHORUS Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Satellite, Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC), Square Kilometer Array (SKA) radio telescope, Aeronautical Navigation products, and Marine Insights products. You will work as part of a technical team to develop new capabilities, enhance existing capabilities and deliver solutions to our customers.
As part of your growth and development we will work with you to establish your development actions alongside regular progress reviews. You are likely to move through various projects to gain the experience and knowledge to progress your career with us.
We’re on the hunt for a Software Engineering Student in our Geointelligence Engineering Team at our Richmond, BC office. This is an 8-month co-op opportunity with possibility of extension starting in May 2022.
As a Software Engineering Student, you will make worldwide flight safer by improving the world’s most innovative and disruptive aeronautical charting system. You will successfully solve complex problems through hard work, a passion for quality, an inquisitive mind, a team-first approach and an innovative edge. A diverse team of domain experts and software professionals will support you.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and enhance application code
- Plan work, provide effort estimates, and drive your work to completion
- Create internal tools to support team members and automated test
- Follow industry and corporate quality standards and best practices
- Troubleshoot problems in a fast-paced, continuous integration environment
- Collaborate with the team to create engineering solutions to achieve the mission of our customers
- Identify innovative technological advances to support our long-term Aviation business goals
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Working towards a University degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or other relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience with at least 2 – 3 years completed
- Programming experience in an object-oriented language
- Experience with Perl, Python or Javascript is desirable. Language-specific training is provided to all developers
- Experience with any of HTML, CSS, XML, SQL or SVG is beneficial
- Knowledge of object-oriented (OOP) design patterns
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to solve complex problems within budget and on schedule
- Previous experience in the Aviation domain and Aircraft navigation concepts and systems is not required—but a keen interest in learning about it is
Comments/Special Considerations:
Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
