Bring your knowledge and skills in SAP user access administration, across multiple SAP systems and modules, to our SAP Technical Solution Services unit, in this permanent, full-time position with the City of Toronto as an SAP User Access Administration specialist.

Reporting to the SAP User Access Administration Team Lead within the SAP Technical Solution Services unit of the SAP Service Centre (a certified SAP Customer Centre of Expertise), you will be responsible for SAP access and authorization administration across an SAP landscape consisting of SAP ERP Central Component, S/4HANA, SAP GRC, SAP Ariba, SAP SuccessFactors, Business Warehouse, Business Intelligence, SAP Data Services, SAP Analytics Cloud, Fiori, Enterprise Portal, and Solution Manager products used by 30,000+ staff to support the business processes for Finance, Financial Planning, Payroll, People & Equity, Facilities, Real Estate, and Parks, Forestry and Recreation.

Major Responsibilities:

Your primary responsibilities as an ERP Application Specialist (SAP User Access Administration) will be varied. Specifically, you will:

  • Implement detailed plans and recommend policies/procedures regarding SAP user access requirements.
  • Provide support in finding solutions to user access issues/barriers identified in the operations of the SAP Solutions.
  • Design SAP user roles and provide input and guidance to ensure role design meets the needs of the business.
  • Monitor the use of roles across SAP solutions to ensure continued effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the user access planning and implementing of upgrades, new releases, new functionality and deployment of SAP solutions to new business units.
  • Prepare documentation detailing the user access administration processes followed in the SAP environment and assist in the establishment of policies and procedures for these processes.
  • Provide input into and administer assigned budget, ensuring that expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations.
  • Provide user access administration support to implement SAP solutions in City’s divisions, including projects that affect the entire City operation as well as specific Agencies, Boards and Commissions as required through new implementations or upgrades.
  • Provide suggestions and advice to management on emerging SAP user access trends and guidance on various SAP technology roadmaps.
  • Ensure corporate user access control standards are maintained in the SAP Solutions.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with division personnel by providing user access advice and guidance on the use of SAP Solutions.
  • Participate on project teams that require technical expertise and leadership in SAP user access administration.
  • Provide support and advice to Divisions, City Agencies, Boards and Commissions on various issues related to user access administration for SAP Solutions.
  • Ensure integrity and security of City’s confidential data, records, reports and sensitive information in accordance with corporate policy and SAP standards.
  • Supervise, motivate and train assigned staff, ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, continuous learning and encourage innovation in others.
  • Supervise the day-to-day operation of all assigned staff including the scheduling, assigning and reviewing of work. Authorize and coordinate vacation and overtime requests. Monitor and evaluate staff performance, approve salary increments, hears grievances and recommends disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Monitor and administer Business Cases, Requests for Proposal (RFP), Requests for Quotation (RFQ), and Requests for Information (RFI).
  • Participate in the planning and development of short and long term work packages.
  • Participate in annual internal and external audit.
  • Analyze the performance indicators and standards for the section to measure operational effectiveness, customer satisfaction and to establish employee objectives. Monitor customer service feedback as appropriate.
  • Provide analysis and input into the work estimates, status reports as required for sponsors, managers and/or senior management team.
  • Organize and assist in workshop creation to formalize user access designs.

Key Qualifications:

Your application for the role of ERP Application Specialist (SAP User Access Administration) should describe your qualifications as they relate to:

  • University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, and considerable years of progressively more responsible experience working on large-scale information technology projects, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Considerable SAP user security administration experience in a diverse, complex SAP environment, including experience with ECC, BW, BI, Enterprise Portal, Solution Manager, HANA, Fiori, SAP GRC Access Control, and Cloud Solutions (S/4HANA Private Edition, Ariba, Success Factors).
  • SAP Access administration experience with SAP implementations – full system, upgrades or module specific.
  • Experience using SAP security transaction codes and tools to analyze authorization and user access issues on SAP platforms.
  • Ability to lead projects or teams, including demonstrated skills in using project management tools (Activate methodology preferred), applying methods and standards, estimating and tracking time and efforts, allocating and deploying resources, with proven track records in successfully completing projects according to an established methodology.
  • Ability to prepare, organize and present business cases, proposals, solutions and budgets or similar formal documents and statements to various audiences, including stakeholders, clients and the public.
  • Efficiency and effectiveness in teamwork, facilitation, communications, conflict resolution, problem solving, incident management and team leadership in projects, assignments and service engagements.
