Established in 1971, the Abbotsford Arts Council acts as a resource for local artists while promoting the vision, creativity, and energy of the Abbotsford community through the arts. Over 70 local arts, heritage and culture organizations receive support under the umbrella of the Abbotsford Arts Council, and the talents of hundreds of local artists are showcased by the Abbotsford Arts Council each year at the Kariton Art Gallery as well as programs and events that are family friendly and open to the entire community.

Job Description:
The events coordinator will assist in coordination and operation of all Abbotsford Arts Council (AAC) events, exhibitions and other engagement opportunities for members and the community under the direction of senior AAC Board and Staff members
Responsibilities:
Develop online and other database resources of items, member groups, volunteers and partners for internal and external use
Coordinate and carry out internal and external communications plans surrounding needs for various AAC events throughout the summer
Participate in events and initiatives as they occur, coordinating on site operations if necessary, and engaging online where permissible
Research, implement and participate in event execution in a manner that ensures compliance with PHO guidelines on site and in planning stages
Solicit participation from community volunteers, partners and businesses in support of all AAC events
Coordinate volunteers and colleagues in execution of event based tasks
Qualifications:
Excellent Organizational Skills
Excellent Communication Skills
Demonstrated ability to Multi-Task
Creativity and a demonstrated ability to problem solve
Demonstrated ability to work on self directed tasks
Demonstrated ability to complete long term projects
Project Management experience an asset
Ability to set reasonable goals and monitor achievement incrementally
This is a Canada Summer Jobs funded position, and as such all applicants must meet the below government mandated requirements:
