What Will Help You Succeed

  • Post-Secondary degree, ideally in a relevant field (business, project management)
  • PMP certification or relevant experience in the field of construction
  • Red Seal Horticulture Certificate
  • Trades Certification – Carpentry, Electrical, Machine Operation

What Will You Do

The Field Project Manager – Landscape Construction & Carpentry produces predictable order by organizing the Foremen, field staff and equipment to achieve the timely & efficient completion of landscape construction installations and carpentry projects. S/he is responsible for the efficient execution of the day-to-day tasks required to ensure all projects are completed on time, budget and profitable. S/he is constantly providing mentorship, leadership and analytical support to their foremen and field staff with the intent on improving employee productivity and creating additional value for the company in all landscape installations and operational areas.

The following are the duties for the position:

General

  • Working on site with the crews daily installing various aspects of hardscapes, softscapes and carpentry projects.
  • Staff scheduling weekly (Friday) with the Senior Project Manager.
  • On-going client communication and liaison.
  • Procurement of materials required for the project being managed.
  • Develop execution plans and present to SPM as well as client when required.

Leadership

  • Plans, delegates and oversee the tasks necessary to complete landscape install projects
  • Envisions project completion and sets out relevant, time bound goals for crews to achieve
  • Monitors production of the crews and the work of the field staff
  • Engages in conflict resolution and works with managers, staff, and clients to resolve issues
  • Mentors and guides direct reports
  • Attends and contributes to monthly tactical and operations meetings

Project Management

  • Responsible for production of $1,500,000 of projects at an average of 35-45% Gross Profit
  • Project documentation / emails
  • Responsible for communicating to your clients daily and weekly as required in a timely manner
  • Attends project handoff meetings and works closely with the estimators/designers to ensure that the client’s vision is captured in the final project
  • Attend post-mortems to review projects when completed
  • Controls production and review project Budget to ensure there are no cost overruns
  • Keeps Senior PM up to date with all project risks and deliverables
  • Plans, orders and arranges delivery of necessary resources to complete the projects in a timely and efficient manner
  • Fully responsible for all staff safety for his/her direct reports
  • Training forepersons and all crew members constructively and frequently.
  • Maintains project folders – update progress pics, pre-site pics, client communications and permits

Project Production

  • Develops and implements daily production plans for install crews
  • Controls production and production standards on the job site
  • Monitors and reports progress on a daily basis
  • Reviews project success and provides feedback for improvement in conjunction with management
  • Identifies and recommends processes and procedures for the company to improve operations and installation projects
  • Protects the company against wasteful, inefficient, unsafe, and fraudulent practices

Sales & Estimating

  • Prepare and submit change-orders to estimators to review when required
  • Maintain quality service by following Company standards and systems

HR

  • Disciplines direct/indirect reports as needed
  • Assists with performance evaluations for direct reports

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all direct reports complete the duties as defined in their respective job descriptions

Education

  • Post-Secondary degree, ideally in a relevant field (business, project management)
  • PMP certification or relevant experience in the field of construction

Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience in a landscaping project management position or
  • 5+ years in a landscaping construction foreman position
  • Project management in a small business environment
  • Experience managing projects from $20,000 – $1,000,000
  • Experience in the Landscape Construction and Carpentry industry preferred

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications
  • Experience operating skid steers, excavators, dump trucks
  • Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete various landscape/construction practices
  • Advanced measurement and calculation skills
  • Ability to follow safe working procedures
  • Ability to work both independently with little supervision and as part of a team

Salary and Benefits:

  • $65,000-75,000 per year
