Paracel Laboratories Ltd. is a full-service environmental and Indoor Air Quality laboratory. Our main laboratory facilities are located in Ottawa and are supported by an environmental lab in Hamilton and microbiology and asbestos laboratories in Mississauga. Additional service depots are located in Kingston, London, Niagara, Windsor, and Richmond Hill. We support a broad spectrum of projects for professional clients from across Canada. Our client base primarily consists of major environmental consultants, all levels of government and industrial manufacturers located predominantly in Ottawa, Toronto, Niagara, Eastern and Southwestern Ontario.

The Opportunity:

Paracel Laboratories Ltd. is actively searching for a Finance Administrator to join our team. Currently based at our Bells Corners location in Ottawa, this is a Full-Time, Permanent role. The Finance Department will move to St. Laurent in early Spring.

Reporting to the Finance Controller, the Finance Administrator will be an integral part of the Paracel Laboratories team. A financial jack-of-all-trades, you’ll have your hands in human resources, payroll, and accounts payable and receivable. Our ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, driven to meet deadlines and has advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Post transactions, and provide analytical and clerical support for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, HR, and Payroll.
  • Perform bank account and credit card reconciliations.
  • Prepare client statements for Account Managers in support of client collections.
  • Assist in the preparation of payroll documentation including TD1 forms and employment contracts.
  • Record employee vacations, banked hours and expense reports.
  • Prepare semi-monthly payroll journal entries for the Controller’s review and input.
  • Input payroll into ADP Payroll System.
  • Prepare EHT and WSIB calculations.

Qualifications:

  • Formal post-secondary training in accounting.
  • 3-5 years experience in at least two of the following departments; Payroll, HR Administration, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and/or General Accounting.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel functions: Subtotal, VLOOKUP, Pivot Table, SUMIF and formatting.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite.
  • Experience with accounting software and large multi-module cloud accounting systems (especially Dynamics NAV/ MS D365) will be considered a great asset.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Exceptional team and workflow management skills.
  • Superb attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Highly reliable and deadline-driven.
  • Strong analytical, data management and problem-solving skills.
