Job title: Finance Manager

Job description: Ts’kw’aylaxw First Nation is seeking a dynamic individual to fulfill the position of Finance Manager to maintain the full accounting and administrative operations in a professional, courteous and helpful manner. The position is subject to a six month probationary period.

Duties:

To maintain all financial and administrative operations of TFN including;

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable system including preparing all cheque requisitions, invoices and maintain proper documentation.
  • Preparing bi — weekly payroll, ensuring all payroll remittance are made, costing wages to the correct departments, preparing all Records of Employment and T4s and maintain all employee files.
  • Administering and maintain the employee benefits plan.
  • Preparing monthly and annual statements.
  • Assisting the TFN auditor in preparing and collecting all information required to complete interim & annual audits.
  • Retaining all contracts and contribution agreements on file and reconcile them.
  • To establish and maintain an accounting system appropriate for the management of the Band’s finances and any Band owned companies.
  • To communicate with the Band’s banker’s as required.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Accounting, Business/Public Administration or closely related field or
  • Accounting Technician diploma with a minimum of five years of experience in Xyntax, accounting systems, word and excel.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of budget preparation and control
  • Knowledge of Xyntax
  • Strong management skills
  • Knowledge of First Nations Programs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills is essential, (ie MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook)
  • Highly motivated and flexible
  • The successful candidate must submit to a criminal record check
  • Ability to wok within a team or independently
  • Solid understanding of processes, policies and procedures requirement to support the organization.
