The Opportunity

How would you like to work for the #1 quick service restaurant operation in the world? We currently have a Finance Manager – Tax position available in the National Corporate Finance Department in the Toronto head office. This position is responsible for tax compliance and tax accounting matters for the Canadian McDonald’s Group of Companies, including the Marketing Forums. The position will report to the Canadian Tax Controller of Corporate Finance assisting with tax planning and business support.

Who You Are

You are a Tax Manager or Senior Financial Analyst with 5 or more years of experience, hold a Bachelor Degree in a related discipline along with a CPA (CA/CMA/CGA) designation. In addition to your strong tax compliance and accounting knowledge, you have a solid understanding of advanced financial accounting. Your outstanding analytical skills, including proficiency with various software analytic tools, are complimented by strong written, verbal and presentation skills. Principal Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for completion of the quarterly and annual income tax projection packages, including preparation of supporting schedules and journal entries as required
  • Analysis and reconciliation of selected tax general ledger accounts, including reconciliation to various sub-ledgers /systems
  • Preparation of annual corporate income tax filings by preparing detailed working papers and reviewing information provided by others to support information required for the tax returns
  • Assist with annual transfer pricing documentation for Canada and other outbound tax calculations
  • Responsible for preparation of monthly tax instalment payments
  • Preparing audit ready working paper information required for Canadian tax audits
  • Review Non-resident withholding tax payments and annual returns
  • Indirect tax experience is an asset
  • Analyze transactions or processes to identify tax implications and assist with communication to the appropriate functional areas
  • Improve and streamline tax processes and including the use of technology and automation, as applicable
  • Complete tax analysis for special projects, as required

Qualifications

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with a CPA (CA/CMA/CGA) designation required.
  • 4 – 6 years’ work experience at the Tax Finance Manager or Senior Analyst level.
  • Solid understanding of advanced financial and income tax accounting
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure to ensure that stringent deadlines are met with accuracy and efficiency
  • Excellent analytical skills including proficiency with TaxPrep software
  • Knowledge of Oracle is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills for developing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
