As a Financial Accountant for our North American Head Quarters in Edmonton, AB, you will contribute to our team by:

  • Creating quarterly and annual reporting for senior executive and senior level management
  • Developing and preparing ad hoc analyses for senior executive and management reporting
  • Preparing annual non-consolidated and consolidated financial statements and corporate tax returns
  • Working closely with our executive stakeholders and internal senior level management to provide critical financial information for decision making
  • Developing and maintaining strong, customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

What you will bring to the role:

  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in public practice or financial accounting in a related industry
  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in a related discipline and an accounting designation
  • Intermediate understanding and knowledge of financial statements, GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles), and auditing standards
  • Strong skills with: Microsoft Excel, VBA, other data analytical systems such as Microsoft Power BI or Oracle Data Visualization, and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Ability to think creatively and outside of the box to find solutions to complex problems and to distill complex ideas into simple, everyday concepts
  • Basic business acumen and understanding of industry practices and new developments, including introductory knowledge of construction industry; understands general construction terms and processes
  • Understands and complies with relevant government legislation
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to act with discretion when handling confidential information
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships
  • Familiarity with Swift is an asset but not required
