Job description: What is the opportunity?
This is an exciting opportunity to work in the ALM Portfolio Management and Execution team with the RBC Corporate Treasury. You will work with a highly skilled team of Portfolio Managers and Traders, getting a great exposure to the way in which the bank seeks to manage the risk exposures that arise from various banking products. You will gain exposure and an opportunity to learn more about the workings of the financial markets and the business of banking.
Please Note:
- This posting is for an 4-month Student Summer 2022 placement with a start date of May 2022, and end-date of August 2022. To be eligible for this 4-month Student position, you must either:
- (1) Be returning back to school after the work term end-date of August 2022; or
- (2) If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in August 2022), you must require the work term as a mandatory component to graduate successfully.
- Please ensure that you meet these eligibility requirements before applying – candidates who apply but are found to be ineligible are not able to be considered.
What will you do?
- Assist the team in calculating and troubleshooting hedging activities
- Work to automate several work product that the team produces
- Compile reports and analysis of the performance of hedges
- Work with internal stakeholders within CT to investigate changes in key risk metrics used for ALM
- Develop proficiency in balance sheet risk measures and simulation
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Educational background in Mathematics, Finance or Computer Science
- Some knowledge of programming in VBA and/or Python
- An understanding of Financial Instruments and Derivative Products
Nice-to-have
- Previous experience in banking
- Knowledge of SQL
- Knowledge of bank ALM practices
