Job Summary
We are seeking an Instrument specialist for our Equipment and Systems Validation department site located in Laval (Greater Montreal area) in Canada.
The Instrument Specialist is experiences in dealing with the support of the equipment used and is a resource to the technical group. This person will performs basic and specialized maintenance procedures with little or no supervision and participates in the training of staff for the operation of equipment.
The following are responsibilities related to the Instrument specialist :
- Competent in the verification, calibration, and maintenance of equipment;
- Handles requests for equipment or supplies for studies with minimal supervision;
- Conducts training of staff with respect to the operation of specific equipment and instruments;
- Performs troubleshooting of problems or potential problems with the scientific and technical staff, where appropriate, to establish and implement solutions as quickly as possible;
- Participates in instrument software validations in a supporting rôle for technical expertise or workflow improvement;
- Participates as System Administrator in all tasks associated to validated instrument and software administration;
- Prepares and/or participates in maintaining SOP’s for equipment and instruments;
- Ensures that system maintenance, repair, archival of equipment data are performed in compliance with SOP’s, safety procedures and biosafety protocols, and GLP regulations.
The following are minimum qualifications related to the Instrument specialist position:
- Education: CEGEP;
- Experience : An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above;
- Reading English is required, bilingualism (French / English) is préférable;
- Capable of being autonomous and making effective decisions.
Working environnement
- Work in a highly regulated environnement (GLP);
- General laboratory or vivarium working conditions; the noise level can vary;
- Required to wear appropriate clothing and safety devices for either vivarium or laboratory work, due to risk of electrical shock, radiation, biohazards, or toxic chemicals;
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to converse and and communicate with internal and external sources, and work/type at a computer;
- The employee is regularly required to lift items weighing up to ~20kg;
- Available for occasional overtime or weekend work.
