Title: Intermediate Information Security Analyst

Team & Location: IT Security – Calgary, AB

Position Summary:

The Intermediate Information Security Analyst will provide technical security inputs to the design and implementation of cyber security tools. This position will assist with reviewing and providing cyber security guidance to the design, implementation and management of infrastructure and application components, regardless of new or existing, in accordance with all IT security standards.

The Analyst will also perform threat hunting analysis which include detecting, disrupting, and eradicating, of cyber threats within Parkland’s infrastructure. This position will collaboration with Infrastructure Security Operations and 3rd party SOC team on cyber security matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate and provide technical cyber security inputs to the design and implementation of cyber security tools in alignment with the cyber security roadmap.
  • Propose new policies/standards to be added to the Information Security documents as result of the introduction or change in cyber security tools.
  • Provide technical inputs to the development of the cyber security roadmap.
  • Participate in review of new technology/initiative proposed by other internal business groups to ensure alignment with applicable Information Security policies and standards.
  • Participate in review of Parkland’s security documentation, include policy/standard documents, procedures, and provide recommendation on changes, or new addition.
  • Perform security configuration changes in different systems, or platforms, to align with Parkland’s Information Security policies and standards.
  • Organize and plan for cyber security awareness materials, include deployment of training modules, updates to cyber security website content, phish simulation, etc.
  • Conduct research to maintain and expand knowledge on the latest cyber security technologies and standards.
  • Assist with development and validation of threat hunting scenarios
  • Participate in cyber security incident investigations.
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure Security Operations and 3rd party SOC on cyber security related matters.
  • Provide support on cyber security inquiries.
  • Perform assigned tasks from Supervisor

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Undergraduate or masters’ degree preferably in one of the following areas: Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, and other related majors
  • 5+ years of recent operational security experience (SOC, Incident Response, Malware Analysis, IDS/IPS Analysis, etc.).
  • Knowledge on threat hunting methodology.
  • Experience with different security tools for endpoints (ex., Carbon Black, Sophos), network (ex., Cisco firewall, Vectra, etc), email security and data security.
  • Knowledge in cloud security for different cloud platforms, including Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google GCP.
  • General knowledge on network design and functions.
  • Possession of certifications such as SANS GIAC, SANS GCTI, SANS GFNA, SANS 4XX-5XX preferred
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, communication, and presentation skills
