AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Intermediate Structural Engineering for employment both Calgary and Edmonton offices.
Job Summary:
This is an exciting opportunity for a professional engineer to play a key role in the design and construction of a wide variety of building structures and contribute to a dynamic team of engineers, architects and technicians with a focus on delivering high quality, innovative building design solutions.
In this position, you will be an important addition to the Structural Department of the Buildings + Places group, consisting of A/S/M/E/C disciplines all under one roof. Project assignments may include, although not limited to, federal, municipal, institutional, environmental and transit facilities. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Participate in a wide variety of projects including industrial facilities, commercial buildings, recreation centers, transit facilities, office buildings, parking structures, public facilities, municipal facilities and Federal projects.
- Use independent judgement to evaluate, analyze and design structures in reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, wood, and other building materials, with thorough working knowledge of ABC, NBCC, CSA, ACI 350 and related codes/standards.
- Interpret project requirements and develop proposed solutions
- Perform computer modelling, structural analysis, and design calculations, complying with applicable codes and standards
- Familiar with analysis and design software such as SAP 2000, STAAD Pro, AND ETABS, and familiar with Revit.
- Preparing contract drawings and specifications
- Conducting field investigations
- Preparing reports
- Liaising with clients
- Performing shop drawing review

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
- 4+ years of relevant experience in the design of building structures, including recreation centers and facilities, subway stations and other transit facilities, commercial and office buildings, parking structures, public facilitie
- Licensed professional engineer (P.Eng.) or in the process to get.
Preferred Qualifications
- Skills in the areas of team building, collaboration and effective communications with colleagues, clients and contractors.
- Ability to manage and supervise graduate engineers and CAD technicians.
- Effective time-management, written communications skills, analytical and interpersonal skills as well as good decision making, planning and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to meet required delivery dates for multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office applications including Word and Excel.
