Job Description

We are currently hiring an Intern Analyst for 4 months starting in September 2021 within Financial Planning and Investment Accounting.

Role Summary:
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning & Investment Accounting, the Intern Analyst is focused on supporting the annual financial planning process through cost analysis and reporting.

Role-Specific Accountabilities:

  • Work with Human Resources and the Finance Business Partners to develop the personnel cost budget for each department to support the annual business plan process
  • Develop supporting worksheets to account for all additional budgeted positions, moves and transfers planned for the coming year
  • Enter personnel costs into our budgeting system
  • Develop detailed personnel cost reporting to support the departmental budgets and provide transparency into their planned headcount
  • Identify and investigate reporting discrepancies and determine appropriate course of action on a timely manner
  • Support the Finance Business Partners where required in their personnel discussions with the departments
  • Promote continuous improvements in processes and reporting, proactively identifying opportunities for enhancements
  • Prepare appropriate documentation and demonstrate adequate processes and controls to ensure compliance with internal policies
  • Adhere to internal policies and procedures, financial controls and reporting requirements
  • Work cross functionally with other team members and departments to ensure we remain aligned with our vision, goals and value
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Candidates in an undergraduate or Master’s program specializing in accounting, finance or business who will be returning to school after the intern term are eligible to apply.
  • Individuals with a strong track record of success in academics with a balance of extra-curricular activities.
  • Team players who have the desire to continue to learn, grow and excel in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Future colleagues who are driven to take on responsibility at an early stage in their careers and who are able to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Students with interest in accounting, finance and investing, coupled with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Candidates who often combine energy, enthusiasm, and intellectual curiosity with a strong skill-set in thought leadership and relationship building. Great attention to detail is considered an asset.
  • The ideal candidate will have some accounting technical skills and some experience in financial statement reporting, governance practices and controls. They are driven to identify issues and think of creative solutions. They also have some experience using Microsoft products such as Excel and Word.
