Job Description
Portfolio Engineering (PE) is a team within the Data & Advanced Analytics department. PE acts as the intersection between business activities and the analytics and data of CPP Investments. PE interacts with investment operations and engineering to ensure that business logic is implemented to specifications and abstracts the analytics and data piping away from the Investment Departments (IDs) – in effect expanding ID’s strategy scope.
PE is actively growing its presence as supportive partners in core service teams such as FAR by pro-actively understand the business needs from a financial analytics and reporting perspective through on boarding capabilities to a centralized platform.

As a Portfolio Engineer – Specialist, you will
- Will work directly with IDs to develop, test, and implement quantitative models and strategies.
- Develops user interfaces to provide value-added insights and analytics to support portfolio management decision making.
- Get hands-on, implementing analytical tools in Python and Spark
- Add your voice to planning and brainstorming sessions to find the best solutions
- Innovate new ways to improve all aspects of what we do
- Guide junior members of the team
Qualifications
- An interest in computing, finance, mathematics or related fields
- Comfortable in an agile environment, where we try new things and experiment
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, computer science or the equivalent
- Experience working in an agile environment with proven experience in product management and working in agile delivery teams
- Experience with the capital markets would be a benefit but not required
- Seeking candidates with entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinking
Technical Qualifications:
- Spark, Python and pandas programming experience
- Experience in with cloud-based applications on AWS
- Drive software delivery through prototyping exercises to solicit early user feedback and discover appropriate solutions
- Experience with productivity tools such as JIRA or Confluence.
- Knowledge of leading and implementing change management
