Manager, Maintenance – Pulp

The Opportunity:
Canfor is currently seeking a motivated and experienced Maintenance Manager to join and lead our Maintenance Teams. You’ will be an impactful leader who gets things done, knowing the nuts and bolts of large-scale industrial manufacturing environments and instinctually knowing what it takes to ensure your people are engaged. As a strategic leader, you understand people and know that for people to buy in, you must be relatable and communicate the bigger picture.

Ideally, you have experience in a manufacturing environment and have demonstrated an interest, enthusiasm and a successful track record related to Maintenance and Reliability. Preference will be given if you have a Engineering Degree, or Trades Certification and understand the maintenance and management of large manufacturing operations. What will really set you aside is your willingness to get out from behind the desk, leveraging your experience, your professionalism and your ability to engage and communicate to teams and the multiple stake holders this position deals with on a daily basis.

The Role:
As a key technical resource for the Canfor Pulp Mill in Taylor, BC, the Maintenance Manager will primarily:

  • Develop and implement the major maintenance budget and assure that appropriate standards are maintained
  • Ensure that Reliability and Continuous Improvement processes are adhered to
  • Work with the central Capital Team to develop and implement the annual and Strategic Capital Plans
  • Provide support to the operations groups
  • Coordinate the Taylor Pulp Mill annual maintenance outages
  • Liaise with central reliability and annual outages teams
  • Provide support to the stores and inventory teams

The Candidate:

  • Extensive experience in leading teams in an industrial maintenance environment
  • Proven ability in safety management, leadership and employee coaching and development
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical, problem solving and team building skills
  • Effective communication and presentation skills both written and verbal
  • Solid knowledge of Performance Management and Continual Improvement process
  • Strong understanding and knowledge for the optimization of equipment and processes
  • Proficiency in contemporary business management skills and computer skills
  • Your proven supervisory record has fostered the highly developed interpersonal and leadership skills that will serve you well in this multifaceted role.
  • Preference will be given to those who have an Engineering degree, a valid Journeyman TQ, or equivalent experience combined with a solid maintenance background
