Georgian Bay General Hospital is seeking a Full Time Maintenance Worker to fill a full-time contract. In this role the Maintenance Worker will report to the Manager, Facilities and Operations. The potential candidate must be a self-starter and highly motivated individual who works well independently and in a team environment.

Job Requirements
Key Accountabilities
- Assist with installing, maintaining, and repairing the various electrical/mechanical/plumbing systems throughout the hospital
- Strong IPAC knowledge
- Inspect, test, and operate any of the systems or equipment to determine that all are functioning properly
- Calculate estimates of installation, repair, and maintenance entities as required
- Maintain required records and to complete monthly, annual and other operational reports as required.
- Perform preventive and scheduled maintenance as required
- Assist in project delivery with tasks that include, but are not limited to, removing windows, painting and trim work, demolition of walls, drywall installation and repair, housekeeping, etc.
- Proactively report unsafe conditions, deficiencies and abnormal system conditions and provide suggestions for repairs or upgrades
- Completing service requests electronically through the CMMS; managing the work request life cycle from dispatch to completion
- Ensuring work quality meets internal expectations and regulatory requirements
- Complies with all internal and external requirements including but not limited to H&S, Fire Protection & Environmental
- Works collaboratively with internal/external stakeholders to ensure that work is being performed in an effective manner and does not impact operations
- Other duties as assigned

- Effective communication skills for the purpose of information sharing, data relay, exchange, feedback and clarification
- Professional demeanor, able to relate easily to a wide range of stakeholders
- Previous work experience in a Healthcare Facilities Department.
- Eye and hand coordination and manual dexterity to make rapid and accurate adjustments or repairs to equipment.
- Maintain strict confidentiality on highly sensitive matters.
- Must possess the ability to work rapidly under emergency conditions and to affect repairs.
- Must be capable of using and be aware of the dangers involved with using hand and power tools as well as welding and torch equipment
- Must be able to read and understand blueprints as well as Provincial and Municipal codes
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
- Parts ordering
- High level of attention to detail
- Ability to think critically and keep calm under high pressure situations
- Must possess current license issued through the Ontario College of Trades in one or more of the following trades
- Plumber
- Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic
- Construction Millwright
- Electrician – Construction and Maintenance or Industrial
Assets
- Mould Abatement Certification
- Fluency in both English and French
- CSA z317 Certification- Infection Control During Construction, Renovation and Maintenance of Healthcare Facilities

Hours of Work: Permanent Full Time as per schedule, 37.5 hours per week. Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends and stand by as part of a rotating schedule. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the SEIU collective agreement.
Salary: $28.39 – $29.31 an hour
