Department Overview

Business Banking Finance supports the development and achievement of the Business Bank’s financial and strategic objectives by providing analysis, interpretation, and advice to business leaders on both financial and business matters.

Job Requirements

Education/Accreditations:

Business degree and/or an accounting designation is required
Chartered Professional Accountants designation would be an asset, but is not required

Other Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

  • Strong business acumen and analytical capabilities – ability to consolidate a large amount of information into clear, concise analysis in order to influence business decisions
  • Highly motivated with strong time management skills
  • Proactive self starter with the ability to see business opportunities warranting further review & analysis
  • Organizational awareness and the ability to balance the viewpoints of Finance and the business units. Ability to understand and detect business issues and their impacts on business goals and objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Ability to negotiate, problem solve and make decisions

Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Manager Finance, this role requires a broad financial and business perspective, demonstrated problem solving skills, and superior relationship management. The role has a number of accountabilities which include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage monthly reporting for the Small Business segment including the delivery of monthly/quarterly financial results and quarterly forecast/plan.
  • Prepare and at times lead presentations which communicate the financial results, key business drivers, and other ad hoc analysis to the Senior Management Team.
  • Participate in developing/implementing new financial models, methodologies, and frameworks to support on-going reporting, audit, and analysis for the business.
  • Identify financial opportunities and participate in strategic discussions. Ensure that financial objectives are consistent with strategic objectives.
  • Provide decision support analysis on initiatives/business cases, including financial projections and project ranking. Lead initiatives related to enhancement of project financial processes, methodology, and governance.
  • Maintain industry, external, and internal business awareness, recognize and anticipate trends, identify issues and opportunities, and recommend actions.
  • Develop and manage ongoing internal relationships with business and non-business partners (e.g. SBB Product, Risk Management, TBSM, etc.).
  • Develop the Senior Financial Analyst by providing ongoing learning and development opportunities and implementing effective coaching and performance management practices.
  • Continue to enhance the team’s analytical capabilities, focusing on key financial and non-financial metrics. Work with other business areas to track and measure productivity and cost saving initiatives.
