Net Zero Ventures exists to increase and accelerate the impact of British Gas in the energy transition in UK homes. This new area includes EV, Heat-pumps, PH Jones, Hive, and Demand Side Response and key growth area for Centrica in the coming years.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance manager to join the net zero finance team at the heart of this exciting new growth business. Through net zero, we install, optimise and service green devices and upgrade customer’s homes to reduce emissions, improve resilience and reduce their energy consumption.
This key role is primarily focused on partnering the business teams responsible for delivering the growth areas in Net Zero Ventures a c£200m revenue business today with strong growth aspirations across PH Jones, Heatpumps, Electric Vehicles, Hive and Demand Side Response. This will involve close working across the team to make sure the financial impacts of changes in drivers are understood as well as ensuring the right reporting and measures are in place to support the business.
It is an exciting opportunity to work closely with a growth area of the business to create value through good decision making, and commercial understanding of the business drivers. The successful candidate must be able to challenge thinking, business performance, and be able to work through accounting consequences of new ideas. As a result, the role holder will work closely with both the business and teams across Finance.
Location – Windsor with flexibility to work from home
Accountabilities
- Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders in the business and Group
- Develop deep understanding of key drivers of revenue and costs, cashflow, and risks and opportunities and be conversant with the translation of commercial issues into financial impacts
- Support the wider finance team and business by providing robust, insight and analysis to drive improvements in financial performance
- Support Transformation activities through design and delivery of changes to forecasting/reporting methodologies, to ensure this new area has great insight into performance
- Co-ordinate the production of standard finance deliverables to the agreed format, timeline and quality. These will be supported by clear and focused messaging that supports the business area objectives
- Work with the business to identify opportunities to improve performance
- Regularly review and report performance against Group Annual Plan & latest forecast, working with the business to analyse financial and operational (value driver) variances and recommend corrective action
- Deliver an accurate, efficient and transparent plan/forecast which meets finance and business stakeholder requirements
- Translate financial business performance into clear reporting content (for inclusion in MBRs and FPRs etc).
- Support and influence decisions, empowering the business to self-serve appropriate data to inform decisions independently
The Person
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA Accounting qualification and relevant PQE
- Previous experience in a large organisation
- Communication of analysis and insight across the business
- Finance/Business Partnering Experience
- Excellent commercial acumen and a strategic thinking, able to support the business in making critical decisions
- Strong communication, capable of building trust and influencing decision making when needed
- Investment Spend and Business Case tracking experience an advantage
