VANCOUVER
WSP is currently seeking a Manager for our Transportation Highways and Roads team located in the Vancouver British Columbia. Reporting to the Director, Highways and Roads this role is an opportunity to provide project, technical, financial and people leadership to a growing team of professionals and technicians. You will be an integral part of developing and delivering our transportation strategy and services throughout British Columbia and Western Canada.

What you can expect:
- Accountability for the overall financial and operational performance of the department under your direction, including the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for the business unit.
- Provision of support and development of technical expertise for the execution of projects, by providing leadership and mentoring opportunities in the development of technical staff.
- Monitor and maintain overall resource management, including staffing, to meet project and budget targets/demands.
- Foster an atmosphere of continual improvement through on-the-job coaching and guidance.
- Provide excellent client management to existing (and potential clients) to deliver existing projects and to win new work.
- Monitor and manage operational responsibilities of the team’s Project Managers / Team Leads to ensure the overall performance of a portfolio of projects being undertaken by the department.
- Supporting business improvement and growth initiatives, providing effective leadership and change management to engage staff.
- Support the coordination of business development efforts within the Region, including the building, managing, and maintaining of client relationships.
- Uphold the company’s core values and maintain Health and Safety at the highest level.
Project responsibilities:
- Provide project management, engineering and technical expertise; project components include project planning, studies, preliminary design, final design;
- Coordination with Major Projects that provide Project Management of large transportation DB/P3, bridges, etc.;
- Cross-disciplinary design supervision and design coordination, preparation of construction plans and bid document specifications, office engineering construction support, coordination with facility operations staff, start-up assistance, and contract administration.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10+ years of related experience with 5 years in a supervisory capacity;
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams of project professionals;
- Experience with various roadway transportation infrastructure including arterial roadways, highways, transit (LRT and subway) and airports as they relate to roadway improvements, etc.;
- Strategic, conceptual analytical thinking and decision-making skills;
- Adaptability and flexibility including the ability to manage project deadlines;
- Demonstrated willingness to learn;
- Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiastic team player;
- Excellent oral and written and presentation skills;
- Be flexible and have the ability to work on multiple projects of varied complexity with minimal supervision.
