Located in Toronto, the Art Gallery of Ontario (“the AGO”) is one of the largest art museums in North America, with a collection of close to 100,000 works. Through the collection as well as collaborations with leading museums around the world, the AGO presents wide-ranging exhibitions and programs to approximately 1 million visitors annually.
We are currently seeking a Regular Full-Time, Manager, Procurement to join our Finance team. Under the direction of the Director, Financial Services, the incumbent will manage, organize, and plan the procurement function, including the sourcing, evaluation, and acquisition of goods and services. Obtains best value for all procurements, in accordance with AGO purchasing policies and governing directives. Manages the liability and property insurance program.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, skills, and experience:
- Degree/diploma in Business Administration or similar, or equivalent experience.
- Designated or near-completed professional designation from the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (e.g. CPPB (Certified Professional Public Buyer) or CPPO (Certified Public Procurement Officer) or the Purchasing Management Association of Canada (e.g. SCMP (Supply Chain Management Professional) or CPP (Certified Professional Purchaser)).
- Minimum of five years’ experience (ideally with some in a management role) in public purchasing, including experience in strategic procurement and in preparing Requests for Quotations, Requests for Proposals, etc.
- Experience with contract management and vendor negotiations.
- Comprehensive understanding of public purchasing principles and legal matters related to procurement and contracting.
- Thorough knowledge and experience working with Province of Ontario Directives or other government requirements.
- Negotiation, analytical, conflict resolution, problem solving, and project management skills.
- Experience developing and managing office practices and procedures.
- Demonstrated keyboarding skills and experience with applicable computer programs.
- Organizational skills, ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with suppliers, contractors and staff of all levels.
