Position Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a highly capable and engaged workforce of credit professionals to ensure applications are decided upon within the company’s risk appetite and established service level agreements
- Regularly coach and develop direct reports and support employee development across the unit/company.
- Proactively identify and recommend solutions to process inefficiencies and closing weaknesses
- Meet all financial operating requirements including behaving in a fiscally responsible manner and in compliance with all internal operating control standards
- Appropriately actions QC and Loan Review findings at the UW level to ensure effective decision processes are maintained
- Support the Directors’ implementation/maintenance of underwriting standards and guidelines for existing and new products.
- Review, analyse and verify mortgage applications for completeness, accuracy, suitability and risk to ensure compliance with all aspects of Home Trust Company’s underwriting policies, procedures and guidelines per delegated authority matrices
- Adhere to applicable compliance obligations including Privacy, Anti-Money Laundering/Anti-Terrorist Financing and internal Anti-Fraud Policy requirements
- Ensure team members’ credit decisions are within acceptable standards through ongoing file reviews.
- Effectively manage UWs’ delegated lending authority to ensure authority is consistent with capability and capacity
- Cooperate with management and peers to drive the unit’s operations to a best practice operation within the constraints of the business and one that enables the company to serve its desired customer base in an efficient and effective manner
- Effectively partner with the Sales BDMs and other Operations groups to ensure a seamless as possible effective and efficient application and funding process
- Adhere to defined Service Level Agreement in acknowledging applications and following up on additional required information
Formal Education
- Post secondary degree or diploma required (University degree preferred) in related area
Related Experience
- 5-7 years leading a team within mortgage lending
- In depth understanding of residential mortgage products developed through experiences within a similar environment
- Significant experience in reviewing residential mortgage applications
