Through careful planning, organization and team management, this role will ensure the stable operation of NorQuest’s IT infrastructure by developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing key functional areas related to the college’s technology infrastructure. This position works closely with the Director of Business Technology Services and other senior leadership, faculty, staff and stakeholders in order to determine, recommend, implement, and support technology solutions that meet he needs of the organization.
How you’ll make a difference
- Research, design, implement and support short and long-term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements
- Develop, implement, and maintain standards, procedures, and associated training plans for infrastructure administration and project management
- Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations
- Manage and provide oversight for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all infrastructure systems, including server and storage infrastructure, data center operations, LANs, WANs, internet, intranet, and wireless implementations
- Test network and server performance and provide related statistics and reports
- Practice IT asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation
- Prepare RFPs, bid proposals, contracts, scope of work reports, and other documentation for infrastructure projects and associated efforts
- Negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, contractors, and other third parties to secure infrastructure-specific products and services
- Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of IT systems, including: networks, data centers, servers, telecommunication systems, and associated hardware
- Manage and monitor operational costs; conduct near- and long-term financial forecasts for expanded functionality/user base
- Assess and approve the purchase of equipment and supplies to meet operational requirements of the college
- Effectively lead and coach team members in a way that allows them to meet or exceed their clearly defined goals
What you bring
- A degree in Computing Sciences, Sciences or other relevant post-secondary degree Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- An ITIL v3 or v4 Foundations certification would be an asset.
- Five years of experience in an IT leadership or management position
- Five years of experience managing and/or delivering infrastructure design and operational excellence
- Five years’ experience managing and/or configuring enterprise-wide infrastructure including server and storage infrastructure, data centers, LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, data communications, and telecommunication systems
- Proven experience in IT infrastructure planning and development
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware such as servers, routers, bridges, switches, and network interface cards
- Knowledge and understanding of system flow charts, data processing concepts, and telecommunication principles
- Knowledge of IT Service Management processes and experience with related platforms (eg. ServiceNow)
- Knowledge of current protocols and standards
- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws

SALARY: $84,748 to $105,965 reflective upon what you bring. AKA your education and experience. Plus, immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs.
