Your opportunity:

The Continuing Professional Development (CPD) unit in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine is one of the world’s largest providers of continuing education and professional development programming for physicians and other health professionals. CPD facilitates and supports the development of a full range of specialized medical education programs. Working with program directors and conference chairs from across Temerty Medicine, CPD accredits close to 400 programs and conferences per year that attract over 45,000 learners from across Canada and internationally.

As Marketing Content Specialist, you will be a core member of our full-service, in-house marketing and creative services team. You will play a key role in supporting our high-performing team with the achievement of enrolment targets through the development and implementation of promotional content for approximately 100 different in-person, digital and hybrid programs and conferences. You will work collaboratively with internal and external clients to ensure that messaging aligns with strategic marketing goals, speaks to the target audience, and adheres to CPD and U of T brand standards. Your exceptional communications skills and your ability to shape compelling content will help us drive sales of CPD marketing services to prospective clients.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating and implementing marketing and communications plans
  • Collecting information from clients to establish needs and advising on online communications strategies intended for diverse audiences
  • Maintaining an e-blast distribution list (50,000+ names), and producing and disseminating over 500 unique promotional e-blasts per year
  • Building contact lists and liaising with organizations and associations for target audiences as new programs and conferences are developed
  • Producing and scheduling blog content, and working with team members to produce promotional materials for programs and conferences
  • Assisting with the development, execution and evaluation of social media communication plans to ensure growth of engagement across CPD’s social channels
  • Organizes and maintains web content on the CPD website, ensuring the information is up-to-date and posted in a timely fashion.
  • Generates quarterly reports for websites, social media, and e-blasts

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing or related field, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience,demonstrating capacity for web writing, content creation and social engagement
  • Minimum four (4) years of recent and related experience in preparing communication content, publications, reports and newsletters, promotional material, and website content maintenance
  • Demonstrated experience advising on ways to enhance communication strategies and supporting in-person, digital and hybrid communication strategies
  • Experience producing materials, including writing, editing, researching and reporting, and supporting the planning and implementation of marketing and communications cycles
  • Experience assisting with the production of annual reports and newsletters
  • High proficiency with Mailchimp, MS Office, social media platforms, CMS and list management
  • In-depth knowledge and significant experience working with social media channels, including building active engagement, maintaining a consistent voice and expanding reach
  • High proficiency with MS Office, socialmedia platforms, CMS and Mailchimp applications
  • Superior communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal and highly developed relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated writing skills for various formats and channels
  • Outstanding copyediting and proofreading skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment with multiple overlapping deadlines
