What you’ll be doing As the new Materials Manager, you will report to the Plant Manager and be responsible for the management of materials, transportation, and the inventory needs of the plant. You’ll be accountable for leading the team of materials professionals, meeting monthly goals, and analyzing the performance of each measurable, while administering the department in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Specifically, you will: * Be the supplier liaison, acting as the main point of contact regarding material planning activities * Maintain part master files within the ERP system for inventory counts * Maintain excellent customer relations including supplier delivery performance and interface and liaise with internal and external suppliers for material orders * Report on cycle count activities, reconcile, and implement corrective action for when inventory variances occur * Establish goals and action plans for continued reduction in the cost of transportation, package handling, piece price and inventory levels * Coordinate material shipments to maintain optimum raw material inventory levels * Meet regularly to maintain a continuous flow of communication between production, quality, maintenance, and management regarding the coordination of material activities * Provide material releases to supply chain * Make recommendations for the optimization of shipping and receiving schedules * Accountable for inventory value on hand * Maintain inventory accuracy levels as per KPI * Support organizational and departmental KPI as required Monitor and measure supplier performance to ensure compliance with established quality and delivery standards * Manage the data and maintenance of the Bill of Material Database (BOM); this includes monitoring the performance of effective date implementation, changes to Billing of Material, and loading of new end items * Review the job performance of each direct report, so employee training and development may be utilized The best in this role will bring more than strong materials management skills. They will have good communication and interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work well with all levels of management and staff. The Details This is a full-time, permanent position located in the region of Waterloo. Working out of the facility/office – Monday to Friday, with an early stop to the workday each Friday. The role offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience. You’ll also receive a benefits package that starts on day 1, a bonus plan – a 10% target bonus based on company/personal performance goals and vacation. Qualifications * Minimum of five (5) – ten (10) years related working experience in manufacturing (preference will be given to people with tier I/II automotive manufacturing industry experience) * Previous experience managing a team of 5+ employees * Knowledge of supply chain management preferably with overseas experience * Sound planning and organizational skills complemented with experience in lean manufacturing * Proven experience successfully working with both suppliers and clients * Thorough understanding of industry quality management standards (TS16949) * Must have previous work experience with MSOffice and ERP software (preferably Epicor); strong Excel skills required * Capable of working within a manufacturing environment with the ability to stand and walk, through the duration of a shift, with minimal exposure to noise and heat * Post-Secondary education in supply chain management or related discipline Your Application We value diversity and inclusion and encourage all qualified people to apply.
