Job description: DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Office Manager, the incumbent provides office and administrative duties which include reception, clerical and customer service support, triaging, and financial accounting duties.
- Schedules multiple calendars and appointment schedules for the medical clinic, physicians, mental health workers, chiropractor, massage therapist, nurses, external partnerships.
- Prepares and maintains medical records in accordance with Campus Centre policy, Ontario Health Information, Health Information Custodian Protection Act and guidelines set by the Ontario Medical Association. Knowledge of dealing with records releases and payment.
- Provides a high degree of customer service in a timely manner, while responding to inquiries by telephone, electronically and in person. Greets clients by phone and in person. Arranges referrals, inform clients of office policies and record patient data.
- Screens and processes all mail, email, of clinic, as well as live chat.
- Processes accounts payable and receivable, billing and collection through multiple insurance companies, OHIP, Third Party and Physicians using accounting standards and procedures in accordance with DC/Ontario Tech finance departments.
- Oversees, guides and facilitates placement and work study students in the office setting.
- Utilizes a variety of software programs.
QUALIFICATIONS: * A minimum of a 2-year diploma in Office Administration – Medical.
- Must possess First Aid, CPR and Mental Health First Aid Certificates valid and in good standing.
- A minimum of three (3) years work experience in a medical office.
- Customer services specifically related to medical practice ie. assisting patients in crisis.
- Knowledge of medical procedures/medical terminology and alternate service billing.
- Some accounting background is an asset.
- Knowledge of insurance companies and third party billing is an asset.
Required Skills
Payband: E; Starting Rate: $26.21; Four Year Rate: $30.39
Required Experience
Full-time Support Staff Position Opportunity: Less than 12 months position, with annual summer layoff (see page 75 of collective agreement)
Hours: 35 hours per week (1) one hour lunch; Mon – Fri (8:30 am – 4:30 pm; occasional evening work may be required)
