Job Overview

Job title: Mine Construction Planner

Job description: Reporting to the Engineering General Supervisor, the Mine Construction Planner will perform the assigned duties as a member of the Engineering Department and collaborate with other departments of the division. The incumbent will be responsible of all the projects related to the Mine Operations, Underground Construction and Mine Services (underground compressed air and dewatering systems) and will work on production optimization through opportunity projects in order to increase efficiency and decrease costs. He/She will act as the liaison between the Engineering, Maintenance and Mine Departments regarding all mine construction-related activities. The Mine Construction Planner will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Work with the Mine Planners to plan all activities related to each project and services;
  • Keep a long-term schedule of all the Underground Construction activities and participate in the workforce requirements;
  • Participate into the yearly estimation of the barge orders related to Underground Construction;
  • Plan, support and oversee all the activities related to the dewatering and compressed air system;
  • Supervise construction technicians, coordinate and prioritize the work;
  • Follow up with consultants according to Underground Construction Projects;
  • Verify and ensure that the plans are approved while respecting the regulations and standards in place;
  • List and order all the required components to successfully deliver projects;
  • Collaborate with the Mine Operations Department to facilitate execution of the work;
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement in safety and productivity.

Qualifications

  • College Level Technician Diploma or higher in mining or in a related field;
  • 7+ years of experience in Underground Mining;
  • Strong working knowledge of CAD and 3D modeling softwares, and mine design/planning software;
  • Knowledge of Deswik, Centric and Pumpsim working knowledge is an asset;
  • Project management skills and team work oriented abilities;
  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on the SPEEXX English language assessment.

Your Work Schedule

  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d’Or, Quebec.
