FNEC is looking for a Parental and Community Involvement Counsellor. The parental and community involvement counsellor promotes parental involvement in communities to improve the success rates of students and school performance levels. Communities are encouraged to develop an education system that enables them to reap potential benefits at the socioeconomic and cultural levels. The parental and community involvement counsellor provides support for communities, parental representation structures and school administrations to develop and implement parental involvement strategies that encourage parents to play an active role in their child’s education.

The parental and community involvement counsellor keeps abreast of studies conducted on parental involvement in schools and shares the findings with the FNEC and member communities. The parental and community involvement counsellor may be required to carry out other school-related projects.

  • Proficiency of the two official languages verbally or in writing and communicating,
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills,
  • Knowledge and understanding of First Nations education issues,
  • Knowledge of involvement strategies from a local capacity development perspective,
  • Know how to use Microsoft Office software.
