Position Title: Procurement Agent I

Team and Location: Richmond Hill ON

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Regional Finance Manager, the Procurement Agent I (PA I) will be responsible for executing approved purchase requisitions under deadline constraints, as well as managing supplier relationships. Open communication with suppliers and internal business units is vital for this role. The PA I will provide commercial support and guidance to end-users in the Commercial Ontario Division

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify potential sources for required materials and services for routine and low dollar purchases.
  • Execute routine purchases of materials and services.
  • Review and amend all new data being requested to be set up in Inventory Item Master database.
  • Reduce stock duplications.
  • Prepare and distribute Requests for Proposals (RFP), review, analyze and make recommendations in conjunction with business unit, and award PO/contract with support from the Procurement Manager.
  • Resolve issues associated with overages, shortages and damages.
  • Assist in the recommendation and continuous improvement of purchasing policies, procedures and processes with relation to short and long term organizational goals.
  • Undertake activities to protect the best interests of the Company and ensure ethical standards are adhered to in all purchasing activities.
  • Provide commercial expertise to end-users and ensure that corporate and local procurement policies, procedures and guidelines are followed.
  • Continually strive to improve the total cost of ownership of the goods/services purchased by Parkland.
  • Establish key milestones and performance measures to ensure Vendors perform per their contract.
  • Improve overall procurement performance by keeping current of industry best practices.
  • Work with and support national purchasing team on various projects

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent 1-3 years’ experience in Purchasing, Logistics and/or Inventory in an industrial/manufacturing/petroleum environment.
  • Knowledge of business transactions related to procurement.
  • Experience with development of service level agreements/contracts and in quality assurance auditing.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication skills.
  • Detailed oriented coupled with strong analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, handle changing priorities and multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of service and supply contracts, vendor negotiation, and vendor relationship management.
  • Strong computer skills – MS Office Word, Excel. Experience with JDE is considered an asset.
