About the team:
Production Infrastructure Technology (P.I.T. Crew) focuses on designing, building and maintaining our internal live and recorded broadcast production systems, remote tooling and hardware for broadcast operators. As well as remote broadcasting and recording solutions, and studio and live event space broadcast infrastructure requirements for Shopify.

Job Description

The successful candidate will report to the Production Infrastructure Technology Lead. Working closely with other P.I.T. Tech’s, the greater AV Infrastructure, and Broadcast Teams on a regular basis.

As a P.I.T. Tech, your roles and responsibilities cover all aspects of how we achieve and evolve video broadcasting at Shopify. From creating system wiring diagrams to researching or building new cloud-based tools to support remote broadcast operations.

The ideal candidate is passionate about broadcast technology, video production, and webcasting.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you require:

Strong knowledge of video streaming technologies, and signal flows

Experience with video production, composition, and production switching

Excellent time management to support work under tight time constraints for live production

The ability to adapt and change focus and infrastructure as per production needs

Past experience designing and/or integrating broadcast production systems

A desire to be a constant learner and develop creative technical solutions

It’d be great if you have experience with:

Experience with procurement of broadcast infrastructure

Cloud-based system architecture

General Computer Networking knowledge

A/V focused development/coding experience

Aptitude working with FFMPEG, NDI, and other IP video transport protocols, Dante Audio

Knowledge in Unreal Engine, xR production techniques

You’ll be working on things like:

Building and maintaining broadcast systems across Shopify

Building and maintaining remote broadcast/recording kits for global deployment

Researching and implementing the latest AV equipment, software, and practices

Working with agencies and contractors to oversee Shopify’s new system builds
