WHO YOU ARE:

As our new Production Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the manufacturing processes of our client’s Victoria facility. You’ll be working with a passionate team ensuring seamless execution and scheduling of daily production through the effective utilization of labour, improvement of production methods and cost control systems. You’ll work closely with the Director Process and Engineering Operations to ensure that our products meet the highest quality while promoting safety, yield management and productivity.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and adhere to Company Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • Review daily/weekly production tracking reports (i.e. yield, waste, labor utilization etc.) to investigate discrepancies and develop effective solutions
  • Research and implement processes that minimize costs and waste while maximizing the highest quality production outputs
  • Optimize the overall production process, producing quality standards in accordance with product specification and contract schedules
  • Plan, implement and monitor short and long-term production, packaging, warehousing and shipping processes
  • Monitor product standards, implementing quality control programs
  • Maintain and update product specifications in conjunction with sales and customer requests
  • Plan and implement changes to machinery and equipment, production systems and operating procedures
  • Prepare and execute plans to address changes to product mix, seasonal fluctuation to volume, production flow and capacities
  • Ensure that all Federal/Provincial Food Regulations, HACCP, GMP, Quality Assurance requirements and Sanitation procedures are correctly documented, implemented, updated, maintained and adhered to at all times
  • Assure the development and contribution of production team through continuous feedback leadership and coaching
  • Proactively maintain a safe working environment focused on prevention and compliance; conducting regular safety meetings, inspects and hazard audits
  • Oversee and ensure proper investigation of accidents/injuries and operational/customer concerns by identifying causes, taking the appropriate documentation and reporting measures
  • Other duties: We’re a small, fast-growing team, so we all pitch in to do some of the dirty work!

Requirements

Must Haves:

Ability to prioritize and manager multiple production projects simultaneously

Demonstrated team development, leadership and motivational skills to cultivate a positive and innovative work environment

Passion for operational efficiency, investing in process and systems to improve team and company results

Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities

Ability to communicate clearly at all levels of the organization

Qualifications:

  • A diploma, certificate, or degree in Operations Management, Business, or relevant discipline; OR an equivalent combination of education & experience
  • 4+ years experience in a manufacturing environment; ideally in the food industry
  • 3+ years of experience supervising and providing direction to large teams
  • Problem solving and continuous improvement (TPM, Lean Six Sigma) experience is considered an asset
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Outlook, Excel, Word
  • Sound knowledge of safety and health standards and regulations
  • Previous experience with a computerized warehouse inventory system is preferred
  • Strong organizational skills including logistics, time management and scheduling
  • Must be located OR be willing to relocate to Victoria
