Specific Job Description
The Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) will be an advanced and modern combat ship, equipped with next generation technology to capably support and protect the men and women of the Royal Canadian Navy as they fulfill their wide range of missions around the world, from humanitarian assistance to high-intensity conflicts, for the next 40+ years. The program is currently in the design phase with work underway for the Preliminary Design Review (PDR).
The Deputy Program Manager Combat Management & Information Systems (DPMCMIS) will manage program Integrated Product Teams (IPT) to oversee the development and delivery of the Combat Management System (CMS), Information Management Systems (IMS) and Cyber Defense Systems (CDS) of the CSC program. This includes software, hardware and associated networks associated with these systems.
The position requires that the DPMCMIS interface with the CSC customer, Irving Shipbuilding Industries and BAE systems (the ship design agent) and work with the Combat System supply chain via the sourcing team to achieve the program objectives. The DPMCMIS will be responsible for program deliverables and program performance, including cost, schedule and risk management.
This is a senior position which requires that the DPMCMIS establishes working relationships within the LM CSC organization and with the functional organizations within Lockheed Martin to achieve program commitments and goals.
Required skills, qualifications and experience
- The candidate will have an appropriate degree from an accredited university (e.g. Business, Science, Engineering etc.), or equivalent experience/combined education, along with professional experience and specialized training commensurate with the assignment
- Must have excellent organization skills and an analytical ability to develop and deliver concise presentations
- 10+ years of experience in management of large complex programs
- 10+ years associated with the management of defence programs is required
- 10+ years of experience in managing development and delivery of software and hardware systems in large, complex defence programs is required
- A detailed operating knowledge of EVM is required
- Must be able to establish and maintain relationships
- Results oriented with an ability to deliver
- Ability to lead a large team

- Ability to influence change at all levels of the organization.
Desired skills, qualifications and experience
- Proven management experience (15+ years) on large Canadian defence projects. Extensive work experience within a major, international defence contractor
- Experience working international and domestic business
- Level 3 PM or PMP certification
- Knowledge of the National Shipbuilding Strategy in Canada
