POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Manager, Immigrant Programs & Services, the incumbent is accountable for the program coordination, management and day to day administration of the IT Infrastructure bridging program for internationally trained individuals in the IT field, funded by the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for program management including planning, coordination and implementation of the program to ensure targets are attained. Additional duties include: program promotion and marketing, recruiting and screening of applicants, assessing student progress, providing supports and/or referrals to program participants according to need, supervising program staff, liaising with community partners and employers, and coordinating student bursaries. The successful candidate will work closely with the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology. Hours are subject to program needs and may include evenings and weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to candidates with a degree/diploma in social work, business or public administration, project management or related field, and experience in bridging programs, community employment or settlement services. A demonstrated awareness of cultural diversity, settlement and integration issues pertaining to newcomers to Canada is critical to be successful in this role. This position requires excellent project management, leadership, communication and teambuilding skills, superior organizational and problem-solving abilities, and sound financial monitoring experience. Candidates should also have a proven commitment to customer and community service. Knowledge of the Information Technology (IT) field, Ontario labour market demands in the field, and project management principles will be considered strong assets.
